Polish immigrant Stanley Malczewski was a frustrated Toledo streetcar conductor who knew nothing about meat-cutting when he opened a grocery store on Buckingham Street at Pulaski Street about 1912. In the 1950's Stanley's son Ray and wife Bernie (pictured to the right) took over. Malczewski's Market, specialized in homemade kielbasa, pierogi, coffee cakes, and other Polish specialties. In 2002 due to declining health and advancing age Bernie and Ray hung up thier aprons.
In 1966 Ray and Bernie Malczewski started Malczewski's catering when they broke gound on Scott Park Banquet Hall located on Nebraska Ave.
Today you will find Bernie and Ray's son Fred and daughter Karen keeping their parents legacy alive with the help of other family members and friends.
